Got of for the 1st time in 2 weeks back to an area I've been to before. After looking at the maps I decided to follow the old road in search of a house on the maps.

Was really warm today & went thru 2 liters of water.

Found the house turned on the tector made 2 swings & bam 1st flat button. Well that's a good sign :) continued swinging and picked up more buttons & then worked my around the foundation until I get a really good hit & pulled out a sweet looking 1820 LC! :yahoo:Was stoked and continued around for a bit longer & got a really good hit & dug this nice pocket watch with a Train on it.

Pulled out this numbered tag that says "The B.D.P. Jr Co". Can't seem to get any info on it so if anyone can help I'd gladly appreciate it.

I hit this place hard & will go back after a good soaking rain.

On a side note while I'm out in the woods my wife sends me a text that my son eyeballed this Stainless Steel Ring at the beach , LOL!

Terrific hunt! That 1820 Large Cent is a beauty, and those old buttons are very nice too.

That pocket watch looks really heavy. Very cool that it has a train on it!

The tag is very likely a brass railroad tag used for marking luggage. I can't figure out which company it is but it is the name of a company that manages a rail station. Were there old train tracks near your site? Based on that tag and the watch and I'd guess that house was the home of a railway engineer. Pretty cool.

Thanks! Very interesting but normally the tags have some RR info on them linking to a RR or Steamship Co. Can you send me the links.

There was a Gun Smith shop next to the house so perhaps it's a part tag?

The watch design was a popular one in the 1880's, so I don't believe it's RR related in that sense, but there is a railroad in the area.

Yea, man was it built to take a licking! The case was made by Philadelphia Watch Case Company. Mine is the Silverode version.

Nice score on the 1820 copper :groovy: Worth the sweat :lol: It does get hot and you can go through all of your water in a flash. Nice buttons too, I think I have that same gold gilt button too. Must have been a popular pattern.

Yea, I decided to end the hunt once I was out of water. I've gone down 2x with heat exhaustion when I was a CW Re-enactor. NOT fun when your legs turn to rubber and go out from under you.

That button seems like the leaves are arranged a backwards swastika for good luck, but perhaps it's a coincidence.

i couldnt find find the exact railroad company but there are old railroad reports by state on google books that list the companies and their data...I just don't have the time to go though the New England states to find which one it is. It's a cool, informative article though!

Those tags can fetch a pretty penny! Many times my hunts end because I run out of water :disgusted: I too thought I had the same button but I looked through them and found mine is only similar. I hope you can get back there :)
