We threw a 16th Birthday party for our oldest son Sunday. Like last year we decided rather than have a party here at the house we went up to Wisconsin and had his party at the lake! ;) When we went up there last year I figured there had to be some old coins laying around so I took my detector along. However, I wasn't expecting to find my oldest penny there. :shocked01:
From deep in the sand I dug this 1833 LC! Plus a few other goodies....

So there was no doubt if I was taking along the E-Trac again this summer.
I detected for a hour and a half before I had to get the grill fired up for lunch to feed the party crowd. I was only able to find two crusty wheaties from the sand. I was hoping to maybe have at least one silver in my pocket before taking my grilling break. But no such luck.:disgusted:
After feeding everybody and cleaning up the aftermath, I had about two hours to swing before we had to start heading back south. I decided to change some strategies :thinkingabout: I decided to head for the shade of some nearby trees. Hoping that some poor sun-beat beach goer from days gone passed had seeked refuge from the sun there and lost some goodies in the process. Not to mention I was starting to get a little fried myself! My hunches were right! First I got a wheatie at about 4 inches. Then another, then a 13-46 at 5 inches or so on the meter. Out pops the first silver! A 1944 Merc! No SDHOS!! :happydance01:
In just over 2 hours I managed 3 silver dimes, a war nickle, a silver Washington quarter, and a .925 Thailand Silver ring that says "Faith" on it.

Here's a little better look at the ring.
