What a great day you had. Double 16's, never saw that before. Couple of Barbers, some nice IH's, a tax token, which eludes still eludes me and a fantastic political token.
Was this the result of some door knocking?

Very impressive variety of finds, Dave! Nice early Barber Dime, and TWO 1916 Mercs in one hunt! The star of this show is the political token though. I found a newspaper article where Chester W. Church filed for candidacy on February 10, 1912.

Thanks Tony, That's my oldest barber dime (I thought it might be seated when I first popped it out). The 1916 mercs were less than a foot apart and at the same depth. The token was an obvious signal but large tree roots surrounded it on all sides. I had to dig with my digger turned sideways. I had to extract it through a 1-inch wide slit between roots and thats how it got scratched.

For some reason the barber almost looks like a slight mint error. Maybe I just haven't seen enough barbers :bummer:. Shocked at the political token. Besides presidential buttons, never heard of such. Especially for a measly secretary of state position. Maybe back in the early 1900's, they put more effort into meeting the public yet they spent less on campaigns. Hmm. wonder why that is :eyebrow:. Anyway, it seems like it was from 1912 and the guy never made it into office (or what I searched didn't show him in office)
