An effervescent full moon hung lazily in the dark evening sky. It was surrounded by a hazy luminescent white ring. Lunacy prevailed.
The Swinger of the White Orb of the House of Garrett was haunted by this sight. Was it an ominous sign? Sleep did not come easily that evening for the crusader. He reached into the bed side drawer and extracted a blue pill that had been given to him by his witch doctor. A strange man from a far away land called Mauritius. With sleep came..........evil!
Arising the next morning to the sound of the rain hitting the roof the crusader had this nagging feeling, a compulsion that he must go forth and dig. Not one to tempt providence he headed to a local field of sporting. A place where young men sacrificed their bodies to block shoots, slide tackled to protect their goal and bathed in the glory of victory or the agony of defeat.

The White Orb of Garrett was covered to protect it from the elements. Coins of the realm were released from the Netherworld..then another sign. A sign from that trickster Holister pointing towards the far post.

As in a trance the crusader followed the outstretched arm swinging the white orb. A strong signal.....a heart stopping moment!

Not to be.....a deep thought escaped his cortex......a "Hamlet" moment!

The crusader looked deep into it's dark, bleak terrifying eyes and felt his strength depart. With a Herculean effort the crusader pocketed the ring.
Shaken by not stirred the crusader continued on searching the field of glory. Another sign...two utensils used by scribes....reaching down he put them in his hand.

A voice not of this world spoke softly to him..."Use these gifts I have given you wisely." The rain picked up, the sky became blacker. It was time to go.
Stopping at a merchant's shop the crusader reached into his pocket and grasped the tools of the scribe...............he became possessed...........walked to the Pro line sheets.....and filled in the holy sheet as followed;
Columbia to beat Greece
Cote dIvoire to be defeated by Japan
England to tie Italy.
The sheet of betting was taken to the merchant who eagerly relieved the crusader of his handful of coins. A piece of onion skin paper was given back to the crusader from the House of Garrett who suddenly came out of his state of mine. He looked at the paper thinking to himself...:What have I done?"
The crusader could not shake the feeling that evil dwelled in him and that he must exorcise that evil. Another stop. This time at an apothecary shop. The hands of the crusader took on a mind of their own. The tools of the scribe where firmly in his hand...a voice.....Crown Royal. The crusader obeyed.
A voice from beyond chanted an incantation;
Ice alone is not a mixer
For this potent almighty elixir.
Ginger ale must you add
To stop you from going truly mad.
Once safely at his abode the crusader opened the Crown Royal and spoke that which must be spoken. Sitting at the box that showed pictures he watched the Colombians and Greeks do battle. During this epic confrontation the words that must be spoken were repeated countless times. The soul of the crusader was at rest.
