Full Metal Digger

Hey diggers,
I only had about 2 hours to MD today so I headed for an old farm house on the edge of town. Most of the houses in that neighborhood date to the late 1950's but you can tell this was the original farm house before it was sub-divided. The old man that lives there sure was a talker! He was probably lonely and I wanted to talk to him but I also wanted to metal detect! He told a that someone metal detected there several years ago and he had found several old coins "including a 1911 dime."
I spent the first hour not finding anything... TONS of iron signals and falsing but no deep signals at all. I was about to call it quits and then I realized I don't get to metal detect 1868 yards very often AND that other guy couldn't have found it all! I decided to hang in there a bit longer. Over by a big bush I got a 12-40 signal on my e-trac. It showed 8 inches deep. It was sounding like a wheat cent and that's what it turned out to be. Finally, on the board with a coin (a sigh of relief). About a foot over I got another 12-40 at 7 inches and popped up another wheat cent. I decided to focus on this area by the bush. I reasoned that maybe the other guy missed this area all those years ago. About 10 feet away I got another 12-40 at 7 inches. Another wheatie I figured. Imagine my surprise when a Barber dime popped out! After I closed the plug, I re-swept it with my coil and got a solid 12-47 at 7 inches about 2 inches to the left. I cut a half-plug next to my first plug and out popped another Barber dime!
My first Barber spill! One dime is dated 1897 and the other is 1901-O. Thanks for looking and HH, Dave.
