Hiya Friends, I had a few nice after-work hunts this week. I have doubles, and I think triples of these dandies. I dug the buckle frame and immediately thought I had a potential match. The cooking-pot chape and forked tongue match that frame? What is that knobby thing?...drawer pull? The horse thing just a hangy decoration? Thanks!

Very cool digs Drew. Is that a watch winder below the show buckle? Could that horse hangy thing be a trivet? Nice shoe buckle by the way.

Great bunch of finds Drew, I really like the shoe buckle, those style of knives seemed common a long time ago, I've got a nickel silver one that I polished up that I found at a middle 1800's town hall building.
Alright mister i'm a bit disappointed , no framed picture of the horse who was wearing that decorated brass ?? ;) :teasing:
sweet looking complete shoe buckle :smitten:some nice dandies , you should just stick to after work hunts from now on .

Thanks Bell, Timewarp, ...yeah Jeff ...my first thought was a trivet but the back doesn't have any short legs and the handle isn't really long enough for a handle. Maybe they made trivets to just sit on the table?
Giant, I'd love to find a real silver spoon, all I get is plated stuff. This butter knife has a lily pad motif.
 @ Dan...yeah, I do love my short afternoon hunts. Calms me after the chaos of my job. :daydream:

Interesting finds. I really like the old shoe buckle. Congrats on the variety.
the horse motif item looks familiar Drew , google "brass horse flasher" pictures or "horse brass" pictures and you should see some similar examples.

U always find a lot of spoons. Not bad with the buttons. The knob thing... I am reminded of the top to a lamp, altho what you have could be a drawer pull. I found something that was almost like a screw for the shade, but it had a red marble.

Haha, not really Jim, but school is school.
Thanks Geode, that buckle is a great match.
DAN!!! That's it!! Nailed it. The ones I saw were shaped exactly like mine. They were worn by large parade/show horses. Thanks man :notworthy:
Very nice finds, I personally would call it a Trivet, do not think all trivets had legs, two of mine have 3 long legs _1/4-1/2" but the third one has basically just 3 bumps on the underside. I did see examples similar to yours called trivets, great display find regardless!

Thanks everyone.
Al, there's a chance of me polishing that horse flash but I'd call it a fat one. I don't enjoy the cleaning part of this hobby, do you?

Thanks Jeff, may be a watch winder. It's not as hefty and slightly larger than other winders. I don't think the ends are correct. :dontknow:
Nice finds there! Finally a knife! So sick of it always being spoons. I find it always amazing the amount of metal stuff strewn about. Humans are just the ultimate litter bugs......
