I took the group from Dirt Fishing America out to some fields today. They found some things and I found some that I'll show you. I felt embarrassed finding what I did find. I really wanted them to find it all. But that's the way it goes. I got a no date LC and my first Reale for the year it's a 1784 1 Reale. What a great group to hunt with they were so happy with my finds and theirs. Just the kind of people you want to hunt with. They did well too but I'll let them tell their story.

Very nice. Makes the hunts all that more enjoyable when you have folks to share the experience with. What's the diamond-shaped piece?

The diamond piece is a broach I haven't cleaned it up yet but it didn't look like it had any design on it. The LC just goes in the slug pile but you know fun to dig. Funny note for the seasoned east coast diggers here.....they shot video of their first OX knob. LOL

no doubt because it sounded like a copper or silver  you must had a lot of apathy for them when they seem a bit disappointed when they realized it wasn't a coin. ;)

No they dug it themselves then showed me the hunk of junk I told them what it was then the video started up. It was very funny. For a jaded north east hunter.
They're very nice guys just not used to digging colonial. If I hunt all day and don't get a LC I grumble and check coil connections. They think we are spoiled. They are right of course. The guys in England laugh at all of us. They're right too

The coin was approx 6" nothing around, it just sang out Bigtime. Nobody would have missed it, I just had the first coil over it. I'd rather be lucky any day.

Nice hit on the 1 reale. I pulled a half and 2 reale in the last week. Maybe we can get together and find the 4 & 8 reale to complete the set  My 1/2 was a 1785 and the 2 reales was a 1788. We might even get a date run if we find a 1786 & 1787.

Todd ya sure the diamond shaped piece isn't a horse bridle adornment? we find them often at cellar holes and usually just have 2 rusty nubs on the backside.usually made of a tombac type metal

I think it is a pin Dave because it looks like that on the back. Maybe
