Indian Heads, Buffalo, Silver Dimes, Watch Fob, Silver Ring, April 26 & 27, 2014

On Saturday I met up with Digger Don and his son DiggerAl for some detecting. At the first site we tried I got one wheat cent and a watch fob that says Puritan Flour on it. After a while we moved on to an old ball field and there I found a few wheat cents, a sterling silver ring and an International Harvester Co. button. In the afternoon we went back to the same site we hunted together before where I found the Walking Liberty Half. This time I only found one silver coin, a Merc that is dated 1920 I think.

On the way home I couldn't resist stopping at Silver Park for a little while. I got a really worn 1918 Merc and about 10 wheat cents there.

Today (Sunday) I went back to Two-Cent Park for a little while. Keepers are getting really hard to come by in this park, but I still managed a 1906 Indian Head, 3 wheat cents, a 1919 Buffalo Nickel and a 1946 Rosie. I also encountered another detectorist in this park for the first time and we chatted for a bit. His name is Ray and he was swinging a CTX 3030.

After a while I moved on to the park where I found the 1877 Swedish 2 Ore coin a couple of years ago. Today I only managed one keeper from this park, an 1879 Indian Head Cent.

Nice job on the finds this weekend. You ended up with quite a large pile of coins.

I swear if they paved two-cent park, you would still pull silver out of there. :lolsign:

What's up with the non silver ring? I always wonder about those... not the obvious modern junkers, but the seemingly older copper or brass ones.

Nice finds Tony! Just think if that IH had also been 1877! I find lots of those rings also. They were gold plated and some of the ones I find have an 18 stamped inside (but not 18K). I have read they were men's wedidng bands when they couldn't afford a real gold one.

Even though the coins came slowly, the pile is pretty good size. And top it off with a decent shape '79 Indian and it turned out to be a good weekend of hunting. :congrats:

Another nice pile of keepers. The reverse of the 1918 vs the 1920 is amazing as far as wear goes. Sounds like you had good time management over the weekend, lots of detecting time. :thumbsup01:
