Old House Saves the Day!

Hey Diggers!

First let me say Congrats to Tony on his amazing 1877 cent! :clapping:

I went to 3 different old parks today and struck out at every one of them. Fed up, I decided to do some door knocking and got a yes at the first door I tried. It's a very old house in a very small town. It was a small front yard but I ended up pulling 68 coins and tokens in a little over 3 hours! I even had a great WW2 coin spill. The oldest coin I found today turned out to be a German East Africa 1 Heller dated 1912. You got to wonder how it got there! I also found a WW1 USMC Globe and Anchor hat pin. You can tell it's a "Pattern 1875, WW1" based upon the position of the rope on the anchor.

Awesome bunch of finds, Dave! You really got a great variety of coins, tokens and relics. Very nice bump to your silver count too. I think my favorite is that 1912 Deutch Ostafrika coin. I've never seen one like it, and it cleaned up beautifully!

Wow some nice finds. I am guessing the answer was right in front of you... USMC pin from WWI and the coin was dated 1912. Probably picked up during deployment. And there we go, my daily search on history learned me somethin. The German east africa was controlled by Germany until WWI and then devided up among Britain and Belgium, so they were minted 1904-1918. And that explains the "Deutsh" which is also present on the German marks.

You might be right Del. I opened with a rare 1851 half cent and then he raised me with an even rarer 1877 indian head cent!
