Last two days in the field have been hard hunting not much found and dealing with very windy conditions. I dug my first Chinese Cash coin, a HR button or perhaps saw badge and did find a Indian Artifact a very nice hammer stone. Any help with ID on the coin date etc and on the HR item would be appreciated.

Thanks Drew, I looked at that site and I was having trouble comparing characters, on Facebook someone mentioned 1862 for the date. Just got a message for him definitely 1862! The HR thingy, has no back to it so I am not sure if it is a button, looks a bit like saw blade logo plates I have seen dug before but do not recognize the HR as a tool manufacturer.

I've seen lots of old saw handle medallions; Disston, Atkins, Simonds, Richardson Brothers, and the generic Warranted Superior, but I've never seen one that says HR, nor can I think of an old saw company with those initials. Old saw medallions were usually brass and had a female threaded back that the male screw would fit into.

Nice finds Tony. I always wonder how those foreign coins end sup in such strange places.
