Yesterday we had a late-evening thunderstorm. It made for a cooler afternoon today. I took advantage and headed out to see if I could locate a site I had been to only once last year, but one I had neglected to add to my GPS at the time. :bangahead02: I finally found it after driving around the area for about 25 minutes. :shocked01:

I gave the site a try, this time detecting it for several hours until the late afternoon. I managed to find seven silver dimes, dated 1900, 1914, 1917, 1918-S, 1919, 1920, and 1945.

I also picked up this badly corroded large cent, my 17th copper this year. :happydance01:

This sterling silver pin is tiny, smaller than a dime.

These wheat cents are not pretty, the soil at that location being hard on them, but I'll take them.

Nice going Angel. :thumbsup01: It looks like the soil is kinda tough on the silver too.

Seven silver dimes and all pre 1946 that is a feat indeed , another first on this forum I have never seen anywhere else . For a pre 1920 that Merc' sure has a lot of meat on it I've found a few 17's and they were not anywhere as good a shape as that one . Great haul Angel . :thumbsup01: :thumbsup01:

Yeah, the soil there is tough on the silver as well. :bummer: They do have a somewhat heavy sulfide buildup.

The 1920 merc does have some good details. It was nice to see some of the older mercury dimes pop out of the ground.

Your silver sure comes out of the ground dark up there... Heck, when we hit it in ohio, it glares almost white. Sweet finds Angel!!

Your gonna have to spend some of your clad on aluminum foil and baking soda  Otherwise them silvers are gonna be dark forever ;) Nice haul. I was wondering where your hunts have been, now I know you are allergic to heatwaves.

It varies with each location, and even within each location. The site I worked has an area that is fairly damp most of the time, so any silver there tends to tarnish easily.

I wasn't going to be out on that field in 99 degrees temperature and high humidity, :shocked01: so yeah, I'm allergic to heat waves.
