Need Help IDing Spoon Bowl Age

Got out this weekend to a site I discovered earlier this year where I pulled a 1786 CT Copper & an 1822 Cornet LC along with some other trinkets.

Unfortunately no coins this time & it was probably hit hard a long time ago :disgusted:

Anyhoo I dug these 2 pewter spoon bowls. I'm used to seeing the clam shell back but this is the 1st time I've seen this new back. Kind of looks like ivy. I'm guessing it's 1700's but wanted to see what you guys thought.

Hard to date them but most places that I have seen date those pre 1800. The newer ones seem to have a plainer look to them. The auction places are the best source of dating them. I Googled dating pewter spoons and then images. Find an image you like and you can click on find source and it brings you to the listing for sale.

Most of the spoons we get here start to degrade because of the soil here. They start to, for a better term, de-laminate on the sides. But pewter is a dull gray color. I have never found a spoon like that (with a shell, rat tail, or other motif) that wasn't pewter.
