I met up with Digger Don and his son Alec this morning for some detecting at a couple of parks. It was cold and windy but we had a lot of fun anyway. The temperature was 26 degrees when we started hunting, but hey, at least the ground wasn't frozen!
At the first park we hunted at I found a 1906 Indian Head Cent and a couple of wheat cents. This park has been hunted heavily and finds were sparse, so we decided to try a different site.
At the second site I found the 1943 Walking Liberty Half within the first 5 minutes. I also got 3 silver Rosies at this site and a few wheat cents. By about 2:30 in the afternoon I was just about frozen so we called it a day and went our separate ways.
I thought I was just going to go home but after I rode in the car with the heater cranked up I decided to stop at "Silver Park" on the way home and try my luck there. I found 2 Mercs and several wheat cents before I decided that I couldn't take the cold any more.
It was nice meeting Don and his son and I hope to hunt with them again!
