I can't believe I finally got out on Friday for a few hours. :clapping: What a long winter. :ticked: Had knee surgery a week ago last Thursday and my wife wasn't happy about me going digging :girlcry: but I worked out a one knee digging stance that I only used on good signals. I explained to my wife that my mental health is more important than my physical health. :crossfingers: Anyway, I didn't get much but I did get a 1942-D Merc at about seven inches :happydance01:and a 1946-D Wheatie at 9 inches plus 15 clad coins totaling $2.04. I bought a 15 inch NEL ATTACK coil for my E-Trac over winter and I love it. :loveit: Happy hunting to all!

So that mental health claim worked on your wife huh? :thinkingabout: I will have to try that one. Thanks for the tip  Glad you got out and dug some silver too.:clapping: How is the weight on that NEL coil? Is it much more than the stock coil?

I believe the coil weighs about a pound and a half. It is heavier than the stock coil but I kept my swing slow and close to my body and it didn't seem to bother me even with my bad knee. I hunted five hours straight without a problem. I did switch hands a couple of times also. The 15" NEL coil seems much lighter than the 12" SEF I used to have. The SEF was so heavy I ended up selling it.

Forgot to mention that my hunting buddy got the 17" x 13" coil for his CTX 3030 and he also loved it. I believe it is a little heavier than the NEL coil but he also went slow and kept the coil close to his body and did well. He got two Mercs.

:congrats:on getting out on that "mental health" thing. Might have to try that one...... It must be nice to see that 1st silver of the year and here's hoping that the knee mends quickly. I know what its like to dig only selective signals.

Yes the mental health angle worked quite well in getting me out of the house. I believe the long cold winter had some effect on all of us. Although as a result of my mental health therapy I spent almost the entire next day with my knee on ice and I did have to hear a couple "I told you so's". That is the rest of the story!

Glad you were able to get out and begin the healing of the knee (and head)! Too bad you don't have someone to tag along and dig for you, even though I know that that is half the fun!
