I went back to the house where I found the Barber quarter the other day. Found a couple of interesting finds, and a few keepers. Found this old key. Always like finding those. The old mason jar lid. couldn't believe it wasn't broke. Zinc was gone, and no coins anywhere around it. :( Found seven wheats, 1913, 15, 16, 21, 23, 53, and a 58-D. That makes 10 weats so far out of the front yard. Two silver dimes, 1936 Merc. and a 1952 Rosie, both in the same hole. Always recheck your hole. (new guys). And last a 1942-S Washington. Happy hunting all!

Love the silver coins and the old key, Cody! That yard has really paid off for you. The key is probably brass and should clean up nicely.

:congrats:

Nice yard you have there Cody. Silver isn't as easy to get from some yards as one would think  Nice looking skeleton key too.

One of these?

37345No, it was the whole "plate" with the the keyhole in the middle. Let me see if I can snap a picture...

Coinnut, 37347 This is what I found; just a tad bigger than a nickel.

That's a different one. Don't think I have seen one like that. Wonder if it came from a trunk?

A trunk would definitely be a likely origin. Now if I could just find that elusive trunk, filled with exciting treasures....

congrats on the goods! you're wheat to silver ratio in that yard is pretty good. i dug a front yard early this winter that gave up 44 wheats ...and only 3 mercs. 2 of those in one hole. hardly any clad at all in the yard. it was like kids way back when lost all the change, and later there were no kids playing in the yard to lose any clad. it was a strange yard i tell ya!

Great finds. I am surprised I have yet to find an old skeleton key. Years back we found plenty but since getting back into the hobby 2 years ago I have found zero. Not sure your machine but what kind of signal was the key. Thx Wisconsin Digger
