Got out with Todd today and we met up with Ray from Virginia who was up visiting family for the holidays.we had a new site that was hit pretty good by someone in the past but I snagged a few keepers.aHarley-Davidson lock blade with a broken tip http://metaldetectingforum.com/images/smilies/no.gif IH penny,a nipple http://metaldetectingforum.com/images/smilies/laughing021.gif bridle rosette,a suspender buckle and a 1843 Large Cent.2nd half of the day we wanted to take Ray to the site we did good at last week with the pockets spills of copper & shoe buckles but, only managed a few buttons.Todd snagged a Matron head and a couple buttons & Ray ended up with a few buttons from both sites.thought we do better at the pocket spill site but,i think we covered some good ground last week in the snow.targets were sparce today.Had fun & it was good seeing Ray again.
anybody know what the brass window lock plate door thingy is?
Sorry that i missed a chance to hunt with Ray :crying01:

Great hunt Dave. Congratz on the late season copper. That pc is weird almost looks like it was part of a scale when you had it opened up & not pushed thru the frame. :thumbsup01:

Dave,
1st off :congrats:on reaching 55 coppers. 2nd nice going on awarding Todd with the "2013 Copper King Award"
I really think that the brass window lock thingy is a faceplate to an old doorbell. I have a total doorbell setup from about 1870's hanging in my kitchen and as soon as I saw that item I had no doubt. There was once a wire attached to the part that fits in the slit and then the other end of the wire was attached to the bell. A person would pull down the part that was in the slit thus tightening the wire thus ringing the bell.
Just my opinion...

Another great year from the CT contingent ! Dave between you and Todd you must have removed 20 lbs of copper from the ground. I was originally thinking that lock plate thingy might be part of a sewing machine but like Aloldstuff's guess better.

Hey Dave,
It was great getting out there with you and Todd. We lucked out with the weather and the scenery was beautiful.
As usual, I seemed to have trouble getting my coil over anything too great, but can't wait to do it again! Thanks for having me along with you and Todd. The two of you are a class act.
Congrats on the latest copper! Two more days to catch Todd's totals!
Sorry that i missed a chance to hunt with Ray :crying01:
Sorry to have missed digging with you, too, Dan. I'll be here until Thursday, if you're up for a half day hunt. (Not sure if I have enough Daddy points left to swing a full day!)
