It has been a while since I have been able to get out, shopping, family, work, and bad weather made me think that hunting this year was over. Got lucky today and got out for 4 hours to hunt a school that I have been detecting for the last couple of months. ( I don't get to detect to much maybe once or twice a week if I'm lucky). The weather wasn't the greatest but when the sun did come out it wasn't to bad.
I wanted to check an area that I re-coned during a earlier hunt and new that the soil in that area seemed to be virgin soil. As I worked my way to the area I was finding the usual finds, can slaw, nails, metal whatsits, and then got to the good soil and bingo. First target, I get a nice tone, the tone of silver, about 4 inches and low and behold a nice shiny 45 merc in the hole smiling up at me. Nice way to start a dig.
But as we know not all digs continue the way we like them to go and from there on the finds centered more on junk. I did manage to find two wheaties and the ring in the picture. Not sure what its made of but still a ring for the count.
The wind started to pick up so I went up along the building, but still not all that much there, so decided to head home and while detecting on my way out to the truck I get a quarter tone but only one way, so I dug it anyway. To my surprise, only an inch down was the 41 GWQ. That put a smile on my face real fast. Total clad for the hunt was $2.33.
It was really nice to get out again and looking forward to the next hunt. Be safe and HH
