Ground is still soft and snow-less, so I'm still diggin

The pendant piece is a "Magnetic Healing Battery" from 1878 to the 1890s. Check it out here, pic towards bottom...

Is that copper disc a coin? It is smaller than a penny and has an "A" like the end of America, and another word that I can't make out.

Also, what is that oval thing with the two spikes? Looks older than the other stuff. I think I found one of these before but I can't remember.
Thanks and good luck with end of year shopping and digging!

Smaller than a penny? Is it thicker than a penny also? It almost looks like Flying Eagle cent. The pronged item may be an adornment for leather

I think the A in America and the date are there. I'm trying to find out how big one of those is. It is slightly smaller than a dime.

It is small. The 3 cent nickel variety is 17.9 mm in diameter or .70 inches (45/64ths)

Here is a better pic. Can you see that date on bottom? I think I see her head too.

Drew, I clearly see the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. So that would date your coin to about 608 AD. Heck of a find :thumbsup02:

I guess I'm seeing things. It isn't even the right diameter for a three cent nickel. It's just shy of 16mm.

It looks like a 1/2 ore coin from Norway I found a few months ago. Smaller than a penny and rang up like an indian head penny. I think they date to the 1840s-1850s.

Looks like it is not a match--mine is 18mm. It may still be some 19th century foreign coin though.

The only British copper coin I could see of that size is a 1/3 farthing. If you flip your coin upside down Drew it could resemble a right facing Britannia holding a trident. A Civil War token might be a good bet.

16.0 mm 1.5 g Copper Third Farthing (http://www.americandetectorist.com/forum/fract.html#third)

a civil war token is pretty much the same diameter as a IH penny so if its smaller than a dime rules that theory out

this has been an entertaining post with all the imaginative images everyone is seeing :popcorn: almost like sitting in a therapy session with a couple of you :lol: . Drew i'm going to go out on a limb and say its a foreign coin too.
