A couple of years ago we had a forest fire here that almost got into Grayling. Some homes were lost in that fire. Well today we have another one going on east of us and is heading southeast of Grayling.
A large forest fire is burning in the southeast corner of Crawford County and residents are being evacuated.
Anyone within a 10-mile radius of F-97 and M-18 should evacuate according to Crawford County officials. The Department of Natural Resources says the fire is about 150 acres and is expected to cross M-18.
7 & 4 Storm Team Meteorologist Joe Charlevoix says the wind direction is northeast at around 15-20 mph. Temperatures are in the mid-70's at the site of the fire.
As long as the wind stays the way its going Grayling will be fine. If it shifts that could be a different story. Right now its around 16 miles away. They better get it under control long before it ever reaches our area. There is also one burning just to the west of us as well, but I heard it was a controlled burn. And we all have heard how those go sometimes. :shocked04:  The pics are of both fires. The bigger, darker one is the eastern fire, and the other is west of us.
