Late this afternoon I took a drive to one of the local parks and spent a bit over two hours gridding the picnic grounds. I worked the area from two directions since there is so much trash at that location. By the time I had to leave I had managed to pick up four silver dimes, dated 1911-D, 1927, 1944, and 1947, as well as fourteen old wheat cents, the oldest dated 1909 VDB.

This was another neat find, a 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition adjustable band ring. It should look great once it is cleaned up.

This one sounded off very nicely. It wasn't too deep... just about five inches.

Where's an S when you need it. That '09 is in real nice shape. That park is kind to the wheats! Got some nice silver and the ring is cool looking. Nice digs!!

I have yet to find one with the desired 'S'.

I love the soil at this particular park. Most of the wheat cents that I have dug from there have come out in very good shape compared to those I have dug from other parks.

Productive two hours you had there in the park!! I too like the 1909-VDB, better condition one for sure. Dimes are great finds also.

Wish my two hour hunts produced like that. Very nice coins bud. What is your wheatie count up to now? Thats just gotta be way more than the silver count. Someday one of us is gonna find the ever elusive 1909S VDB. :shocked04: Talk about braggin rights.

Nice hunt :thumbsup01: Is that your usual rate, 2 silvers per hour? (and I miss your little silver counter )

I haven't kept count of the wheat cents, but I think they are well over a thousand. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking. I really need to set some time aside to go through them and select the nicer ones for my album.

It's likely less than that, though it's probably not far off.... I think.

On the count, I decided to just keep a log of the numbers. It currently stands at 330.

Oh don't be humble- it's fun to see your # go up and root for ya :) So cool to have found the Golden Gate relic all the way on the other side of the continent!!!
