I haven't gotten in much detecting in lately but I did manage to get in a short hunt this evening. Between dropping my son off and picking him up from an evening activity I hit my favorite school; a spot that gave up its 3,000th coin in an earlier hunt this year. This was hunt number 64 at this spot. It was a nice evening and I was happy just to get out. I pulled a small amount of clad along with a wheat penny and what I was pretty sure was a large cent when I dug it. I rinsed it a bit at my car and saw the eagle on the back at which point I thought it might be some kind of hard times token. Then at home I cleaned it up enough to reveal it to be an 1896 Mexican one centavo coin. It is in pretty rough shape but still kind of a neat find.
I'm planning on getting in some good time in the dirt this weekend; hopefully I land something shiny!
Happy hunting...
