Steve and I got out for our weekend hunt about 6:30, too early to knock on doors so we hit some woods. Found a piece of an old spoon and a flat button, Steve got a nice large cent. After that we stopped at a house we hit 2 weeks ago, but no one home. On our way home stopped in to say hi to the homeowner of a colonial house we hit several times this summer and asked if we could do another pass. He said go for it and we did. I think I found my oldest copper, 1730 KG. :bananadance:. Also got 2 flat buttons. We were on our way home by 10:30, each with a LC to add to the collection :beerbuddy:

Gotta love it when the homeowner says go for it again. Nice coppers, any back marks on the buttons?

Nice, early George II. Is that a '30 or a '39? Anytime you find a coin from the 1700's is a great day. :clapping:

Nice recoveries! I got a 173? Hp recently, and did some comparisons.
we have either 30s or 38s, cause in 39 the shield came to a point rather than a scroll.
Still can't be sure what year mine is, but I'm leaning towards a 1738
Continued success to you! Herbie

Agreed with '39 date, maybe the 1739 with pointed shield reverse were struck using dies intended for the 2nd GII series
