Thursday night Rob and I gave a talk on metal detecting at the town library. We probably had about 30 people attend. We probably spoke for about an hour and then answered questions. Our agreement with the library would be that we could detect the property and keep what we found.

Well we went there tonight.....I managed a no-date SLQ. Between us that was it, no wheats, IH's or other silver. Oh well......

I have also attached some photos of the display at the library, it's a mix of Rob's and my finds

thanks for reading and HH

Looks like you guys put on a good display. Congrats on the SLQ and for skunking Rob :clapping: lol Most libraries have been hit all through the 70's and 80's (and beyond). Most of the easy hits have been taken over the years. The modern trash takes care of masking the deeper targets, so not much is left. But gridding areas will produce more, but probably not fast enough for the time spent. But if you only get one silver...a standing liberty is not a bad choice thumbsup01

I am deeply impressed by the quantity and variety of your finds not to mention how neatly you have them stored and organized.

Very nice!

Somehow I missed this post :dontknow:

I was REALLY thinking it would be much better...I had pulled a 1719 KG, an 1817 LC and a 1875 seated dime from the curbing area previously..so getting permission to do the whole area (which also use to be an old mansion)...well :drool: :drool: :drool: :drool:

But it seems PHIL had been brought in...and he really likes to mess things up for us..... lol >:#

Great job Al. How did the library advertise and promote the event? That was a good turn out.
I was thinking of doing something similar but am afraid my wife would be the only one that would show up.....and she'd get board and leave early.
Nice work |:cheering:

My sister-in-law is a librarian there. She has been after me for quite awhile to do this.

They had printed flyers throughout the library for about a week before the date.

I'm friends with the Director of the library ...and Al's sister-in-law, her and I spoke about the library wanting to do a discussion on Metal detecting, and I said that we wanted to detect the property in exchange in writing (so when we were stopped by the police we had it)..and they agreed....it WAS to be our golden ticket...but alas >{
