View Full Version : 1986 Lincoln pennies
Anytime I get change, I always take a look at it. Heard a story of a guy getting a flying eagel cent in change at a store. They thought it was canadien or something. Anyways, I've notice several 1986 pennies that have a slight broadstrike.

A lot of zinc pennies have minor flaws. Most of it is due to their softness. Because they are mainly zinc, they are easily deformed. I bet the presses are set way low for striking them. Most people don't know that the temperature of a coin goes up increadibly when it gets hit with all that tonnage from the presses. They get very hot, although briefly, during the striking process. Although yours is broadstruck, meaning the retaining collar was not present when struck. It should be a bit larger than the regular ones. If you want to sell it, I'll still give you a half penny for everyone you find. :poke: :poke: lol
lol As long as their old half cents
