Had a full day out in Oxfordshire a few weeks back. Its been a pretty decent Roman site, that has produced a lot of bronzes of the last few years..Never had a Denarius off there...that was until my last visit when not one but two popped out <:

1. Caracalla Denarius. 198-217 AD
Reverse Mars advancing left, holding spear and trophy

2. Antoninus Pius Denarius. 138-161 AD
Reverse Hands, in handshake, grasping winged caduceus and grain ears.

WOW! :shocked04:

And I feel proud if I find a coin that is 100 years old! These are 1800 years old! :omg:

Its all relative though. I have to say some the coins I've been looking at this forum I'd be more than happy to find :) I want one of the coins with the Indian on the back and a wheatie...check me out using the lingo and being down with the kids  lol

That's it Pona :hairpulling: We are all boarding a plane and hunting in your neck of the woods lol Some nice, crisp examples. :congrats:

Thank you Coinnut :)
Give me a few days to sort out the spare bedroom...and then youre more than welcome :beerbuddy: Bring lucky charms as my daughter loves them

That better be a big bedroom. I think the whole foum is showing up lol Let's see, Lucky Charms for some Roman silver? :thinkingabout: :thinkingabout: :thinkingabout: DONE!!! Can't wait to see what else that site turns up.

:wow: those are a couple sharp looking roman coins Pona :cheering: :cheering: incredible shape for their age , i'm afraid there will be nothing left of our coins after 1800 years ;) yeah i think there would be more than a few of us willing to take a flight out that way to detect those fields with you .

don't worry , Coinnut doesn't take up much room and infact just a midsized doghouse in the backyard is more than great accomodations for him. lol lol

congrats again on the two Denarius coins.

Dan

Wooooah! Lucky Charms? Lets not be too hasty. How about some Count Chocula instead? (oh yeah....your coins are beyond anything we can imagine in around here)

Count Chocula you say?? not familar with these....might have to google this and let you know :) For the record, a box of Lucky charms will cost you around £8-£9 in the UK, you dont see them too often and can only be brought from specialist food/sweet shops.
