Such a beautiful spring day here today, high of 85 and sunny. So I went back to the same park I hunted a couple of weekends ago where I found the 4 V Nickels.
I only had about 3 hours to hunt, but I had halfway decent results in that time. I found 2 Indian Head Cents in the same hole, 1 Wheat Cent, 2 V Nickels and some clad. I also found part of a gun that was about 8 deep. It is very heavy and seems to be nickel plated? It almost seems too substantial to be a toy gun. I couldn't find any writing on it except what appears to be a serial number on the handle: 96553
Could it possibly be part of a real gun? If it is, it's a small gun like a Derringer.
Here are today's finds:

Wow, that's definitely it! Thanks a million, Steve!
After seeing those photos I looked at my gun again and you can definitely see where it says 22 CAL on it.

My gosh Tony, those Indians really hold up well in your soil. The Vs seem as bad as our's lol
You had temps of 85?! I think I'd faint lol
I agree with Dan on both accounts.
Tony i believe the age on those are around 1860's to maybe 1880's , a very close range weapon for personal pretection . i'm still waiting to find a ":beerbuddy:oot-Pistol

According to this website the gun with serial number 96553 was manufactured in 1877.
