Hey diggers,
I found a small town on Google maps that had an old park and school. It took me almost 2 hours to drive there and it was raining when I got there! It was one of those yellow brick high schools built circa 1930. A nice lush green lawn with huge oak trees on the edges.

First good signal I got was a choppy 12-45 at about 7 inches. I flipped the plug and could see the edge of a silver dime. 1944 Mercury! About 10 minutes later I got a 12-44, 12-43 at 8 inches. The numbers were like a wheat penny but the sound was like a silver dime. I dug down about 6 inches and put my sunray probe in the hole and got a sweet high pitch! Dug out a couple more inches and the hole was silent. Passed the probe over my dirt pile and realized the coin was out. I moved the dirt and to my surprise saw a silver half! A 1917-S walking liberty! woo-hoo!!

I was getting clad signals every few feet but was really focusing on the deeper signals. After about 2 hours I finally got a nice 12-46 at 8 inches and pulled out a very nice looking 1919 mercury dime.

I was pretty much soaked to the skin and my machine was caked in about 2 inches of sticky mud so I called it a day and headed home. Here's some pictures and thanks for looking. HH, Dave.

Love that Half!Driving 2 hours for a good spot to hunt,I can relate to that. You hunt out all your closer spots and after a few years your up to driving 2 hours to find the oldies. :groovy:

:congrats: on the silver! I think the halfs are really showing up a lot this year, nice dimes too go with . I wouldd say the mud was worth the trip. thumbsup01

Neither long drives, rain or mud shall stop Daddydigger from swinging his coil. Great looking WLH and mercs. Glad to see you out having some swing time...... :congrats:

Congrats on the silver big and small! :wow:
I'd say it's worth the drive for an old walker like that. And at least some of your gas money back.
