Hey guys! :waving:

I went on some very successful hunts over the last week.

First off, last saturday, (pic #1) I went back to the park where I dug my 2 barber quarters this year. I intentionally went after it rained because the coins are incredibly deep there around the main ball field area. I Managed to dig 4 silver rosies (some of them were almost a foot deep) and a war nickel. :) Then later that day I did a trashy, grassy strip next to a mid 50's middle school that's in an old community. The hunting conditions were BAD so I got lucky while scouting out (only a few minutes in) finding a shallow 2.5 gram sterling ring (with a fake diamond) After I dug the ring and an old hotwheels car I left right away and went to and old park that's only a couple hundred feet down the road. I scored another silver rosie I missed before (last coin in pic #1) and I did get a few newer wheats too.

Then after many days without hunting (the 18th, pic #2) I went back to the barber quarter park after more rain again. This time I was able to find 2 more silver rosies, a merc and on a strange 14-41 signal, out pops and off center copper penny about 6 inches down! :shocked03: From the composition and thickness of the coin I estimate this one to be anywhere from 1969-1982. It's not a million bucks, but I never thought I'd unearth something like this.

In the same hunt I also dug the items in pic #3. The 1958-D nickel was a recent drop right under the surface and is very clean. Love finding those newly dropped old Jeffersons!

Then the following day I popped out to the park by the middle school again for about 2 hours. Didn't find too much, but found a BEAUTIFUL 1944-S Philippines 50 centavos! Really caught me by surprise. (It's 75% silver)

Then today (last 4 pics) I got out for a few hours at a 1957 school (in an older community) that I've never hunted before. And it didn't look like anyone else hunted it before either. There's not much undeveloped area to hunt except some grass in front of the buildings. But almost everything was incredibly SHALLOW and I don't think it was hunted before (found almost $5 in quarters) My first dig was a 1962-D rosie about 2 down. The 1943 merc and 2 of wheats I found were a half inch down. :omg: I am thinking some of the dirt may have been shifted as a lot of new trees were planted.

And the coolest hole of the day. A 1936-D merc AND a Nashville one school fare transit token.

That's a fine pile of silver for a week. I especially like that 50 centavos coin. Keep up the good work pulling that silver out of the ground. thumbsup01

Nice bunch of finds, JD! I really like that 50 Centavos coin from the Philippines! |:cheering:

How unusual to find an off-center error cent like that! I can't imagine that many of those have been dropped. They certainly weren't used in circulation. Very cool find!

:congrats:
