Hi guys and gals, I need a little help here. I think I need a new camera. I have been using a Cannon PowerShot A1000. Have had it about 5 years. For some reason, the batteries won't last anymore. I can put new ones in, take about 6 pictures and then have to replace them. I can put new ones in, not take any pictures, cut it off, turn it back on in about 24 hours and the batteries will be dead. Its like something is running all the time eating the batteries up. I have tried everything. Looks like I just need a new camera. Any good suggestions. Don't want to have to float a loan. A good camera, with macro, that won't eat the batteries up and won't break the bank. Any help will be appreceated. Thanks.

Hey Cody, last December I went through the same thing ( looking for a new camera) here is a link to my post on what I decided to purchase. So far I love it, it takes very nice close-ups, I think it's macro range was as close as .4 inches. I found that for good coin shots you need to make sure you get a macro that has the shortest range. I returned a a camera that said it had a macro setting but it was only good for about 3 inches. Hope this helps and good luck with the search. I went with the cannon Power Shot A4000is. They are around $110 at WalMart with an MSRP of $179

I don't know. :dontknow: That's weird for sure.
I used to have the Cannon Powershot 1000 like yours... and lost it while out detecting. I think I left it on top of the equipment box behind a backstop while emptying out my trash and walked away without it. 8/
Now I have the Cannon Powershot 4000 like Jeff's. I'd recommend it. I'm happy with it's capability's other than it not auto focusing while filming videos.
