Charles III would make the date of the coin 1786, I believe.

great coin Steve , the bust type weren't minted until 1771 so yeah it has to be an 86 and i believe its a half reale (small like a modern dime and super thin) the 1 reale is larger like a nickle and a bit thicker.

Yes Dan you are correct. It is a half Reale. You think I would brush up on my coin knowledge by now... Nah.. I just find them and store them. :grouphug:
When the heck are you and G going to take the boat trip:huh: :pirate: They should be plowing the field soon and turning up some new stuff.
