It was my turn to take Heavymetalnut to a hunt at a colonial site. I had done some long research and luckily found the site I was hoping to locate. Dave had previously posted his finds and explained how we were not too sure if it was a colonial settlement because there was no cellar hole but boy oh boy did we pinpoint the right spot.
It took us about 30 mins to hike up some mountains into the woods but when we started swinging, targets were filling our pouches as fast as you could say American Detectorist :detecting: By the end of the hunt, we had a total of 26 buttons combined, a lot of relics but only 1 coin that Dave recovered which was a CT state Copper. We both thought that very odd considering all the keeper targets we were pulling :dontknow:
I had to rush home for the Holiday festivities and had no time to clean up any of my finds. When I saw that Dave realized he got a GW button I couldn't believe it! :shocked03: I could't stop thinking about so I decided to go back the following day. Glad I did...I was able to get 10 more buttons two buckle frames and the second coin out the site. :bananadance: Anyway, I finally got a chance to go through all my finds and clean most of them up. Here are some pics of my finds

Very nice 1809 Half Cent, Todd, and some fantastic buttons!
I'd say that site deserves repeated hunts if you're finding that many targets after only two visits, especially considering the age and quality of the finds! thumbsup01
Congrats on finding a terrific site, and on the great finds! :clapping:

Thanks Tony, I had know Idea I had a 1/2 cent because when I pulled it out of the hole it was completly encrusted and the size struck me odd. I called Dave when I pulled it out and said was size of a quarter so we were thinking maybe a 2 cent piece but I thought that to be dated to modern for the site. My gut feeling was right and I has happily surprised.

Yeah Dave the brass brush worked wonders. The last pick button on the left was the one curled up like a crushed beer bottle cap. I used needle nose pliars then put it in a towel and flat hammered it and I saw the star burst pattern. You can see the creases but it's a 100% better now. I thought the 1/2 cent came out pretty nice as well.
Dave what do make of the huge beefy buckle with the imperfection hand done design?
wow great designed dandy buttons Todd and the half cent came out very nice , congrats on a nice productive site :smitten: :smitten:

that's a cool buckle piece.I still think the beefy chape I dug and the beefy tongue you dug are all from that beefy frame piece.looks like whoever made it, built it to last but, sadly it met its demise crying01
