Hi guys. Sorry, this wasn't found MDing. But it belongs to a friend of mine. He's had it about 37 years. Was wondering if anyone might be able to ID it. Its 35 3/4 inches long. Would appreceate any info. Thanks.[attachimg=1][attachimg=2][attachimg=3]
it looks like a cerimonial sword or for a fraternal organization like the Masons or international order of odd fellows , ect. , ect.

I vote for post-Civil War ceremonial GAR sword--a nice relic to be sure!

Cody, I don't know if this will be of any help......I have a sword from the 1700's. I can unscrew the tip of the handle and the handle slides off revealing the makers name.
Generally the sword makers name and sometimes....a date...can be found on the base of the blade right before it goes into the handle. Anything else etched onto the blade?
I agree with Dan too. Lots of ceremonial swords late 1800-early 1900s.I'm thinking Knights of Columbus (Catholic Frat).
