My first 1800s wedding band?

Hey diggers,
I went back to the bean field today where I found the 2-cent coin yesterday. My very first signal was a 12-45 and I was excited thinking it would be a silver coin. I was very surprised when a heavy men's ring popped out of the dirt! It looks just like a men's wedding band except it is made of copper. When I cleaned it up I could see that the ring has a neat pattern stipled all around it and traces of gold plate are evident. The inside of the ring is stamped with an 18 (I assume to mean 18 karat).

Could this be my first 1800s wedding ring?? Thanks for looking and HH, Dave.

I'd say it is very likely, Dave! Very cool find! I love the design on the ring, it looks hand-made and old.

Tony, does the 18 look like an upside down 81 to you? I noticed the smaller loop in the 8. Thanks, Dave.

hey Dave copper and brass rings were very common around the Civil War and way before as many couldn't afford real gold rings . ive gotten more than a few that were just plated with gold and had an 18K stamp on the inside . very neat design on yours that you don't normally see on them , its a very cool and personal item .
