My detecting buddy Lee called me this morning to see if I was up for a hunt. Stupid question in itself I'm always ready for a go at it.
We meet up at a park that he has hit before and has found some old coins.
After about my first half hour and not locating a single coin I'm thinking this park sucks when Lee calls out he just found a buffalo nickel. Great for Lee but still nothing for me.
Not a minute later I finally get a penny hit at five inches. I'm so happy to finally find a coin I don't care if it is a lousy penny.
At first glance I thought it was a token of some sort, but apron closer inspection it turns out to be my very first 1865 two cent piece in really good condition with deep relief on both sides.
I take it over to show Lee and tell him if I don't find another coin all day ill still go home happy.
It's a good thing I meant it for the next hour or two all I found was two clad dimes and three memorial pennies.
Sorry the pictures are kinda crummy. I need to invest in a better camera for coin shooting.
Lee also found a sterling silver crucifix incrusted what later turned out to be cubic zarconias (sp)..
We were hoping they were diamonds.
Thank you Lee for another great hunt.
