wed met up with Chris (kamikazi) from a differnent forum.he had permission to hunt a old farmhouse.didnt find anything old there, think the yard was filled in.i got 2 wheaties.then we decided to go to a cellar hole.he never been to a cellar hole before and he had fun.he got a nice victorian sash buckle.i got a few buttons ,a 1882 IH and the crescent moon thing.

thurs had the afternoon free & decided to go back up to the cellar hole i dug the 1785 CT copper & the diplomatic button.turned on the mixed mode stting, all metal mode and hit the tone id and i was off! 2 claok or dandy buttons right off at 8 inches.a tiny button and went over a flat rock on lip of hole and my machine sang! flipped over 4 inch rock and dug down about 4 inches and there it was.a pretty toasted CT copper.funny how this one was sheltered under rock and toasted yet the 1785 i dug the other day was in the wide open,no protection and in nice shape :dontknow: a shoe buckle piece & got a musketball and was gettin dark and called it a day.

that looks like the clipped worn copper that they put under the entry way of the house foundation Dave , it was for good luck to do that with a coin . they just used a very passed around worn coin instead of a nice new one . still a nice find |:cheering: |:cheering:

Humph....learn something everyday. Unfortunately I also forget something everyday. Any CT copper that can be identified as such is a good CT copper lol
