Indian Head #98... but boy is it ugly!

This isn't a hunt that I would typically post, but I wanted to document my progress towards 100 Indian Heads for the year. I hope that isn't too obnoxious of me. :embarrassed:

Today after work I headed to a nearby park that I have hunted to death, but I have found several good coins there in the past. No luck at all this time, not a single old coin after an hour and a half. I guess I've pounded it pretty hard. :-\

So I moved on to Plan B, a site a couple of blocks away from the park where they recently tore down a 100+ year old high school. The spot where the building itself was torn down is fenced off, but the outer areas around the sidewalks are still accessible. I tried hunting the bare dirt areas around the old trees, and immediately found a 1913 Buffalo Nickel less than an inch deep. Around the next old tree I found an 1898 Indian Head that was only about 3" deep, but boy is it toasted. Oh well, it still counts, I guess. Indian Head #98 for the year.

Right before it got too dark to hunt I found two wheat cents together in one hole, a 1913 and a 1921. You can really tell which two sides of the coins were together and protected from the elements.

Here are the meager finds for today:

Here is the 1898 Indian Head. Not pretty, but I'll take it.

And the small pocket spill of two wheat cents.

Thanks for looking and happy hunting! :beerbuddy:

Nice keepers Tony. :clapping: Silver can hide from everybody from time to time. I've had my share of those sneaky ones.

I've got one of those parks too. Only a few blocks from my house. It is hit or miss when I put a short hunt in there.
Sometimes you get over them... sometime not.

Congrats on #98. :beerbuddy: I still bet #100 will come by Sunday night. :->

you must have found a lost tribe the way you are pulling out the injuns congrats on yet another great hunt dennis

No doubt your 100th IH is just around the corner and that is a great accomplishment. PLan B gave up a buff, IH and wheats, not to shabby |:cheering:.
No way can it be obnoxious for shooting for 100 IH's.

Nice finds there Tony! Congrats on #98, I'm sure you'll be to 100 this week/weekend! No pressure though!

Holy Cow Tony! 98 Indian Heads this year! Wow just amazing-I'm sure you will hit the hundred mark. Congrats on all the finds! |:cheering:
