I believe this small little item, about 2 1/2 long, to be the remnants of a small little promotional pocket shaver probably from the late 1800's. Found on a sidewalk project, I didn't realize it had writing on it until I got it home and cleaned up my finds.

It reads:

Sign of the blue :usaflag:, 384 East Water St, Milwaukee Wis

Zimmerman Bros, Clothing House

That's what I was thinking, maybe it's an old Shoehorn. It sure looks like it could be. Did you look up the Company and get any history ? That might be a good idea and maybe it will tell you the products they produced.

Looks like a folding straight razor to me. Definitely has that shape to it.

Very cool find, whatever it is! thumbsup01

It definitely had a fold out blade of some kind, which is the rusted steel left that you see.
