I haven't posted in a long time and have accumulated a few neat finds. I've mostly been hunting tot lots this summer because it's been sooo dry and I've had both of my boys (4 yr old Logan and 6 yr old Bryce). I bought Logan a White's Coinmaster a couple months ago and have been planting quarters for him to practice.
All of these finds were from about 5 different city park tot lots. I prefer old homesteads and churches, but did pretty well with the silver and gold in the playgrounds! 1952 rosie was exciting- I don't find many silver coins in the parks around here. Same place I found a 1949 washington last summer)
The Tommy Hilfiger ring is 10K and was about 8 down in the clay beneath many layers of mulch!
A funny story- I admit that I usually don't like kids following me around asking a thousand questions at the tot lots ((and esp if they can swing my V3i \:[ )) but now that Logan has a Coinmaster I don't mind if they try his out...
So two boys about 10 yrs old asked if they could help dig my target, with VDI of 15-17 I thought perhaps it was a buff. I told them okay, but if it was an old nickel (or gold) that I wanted to keep it. I thought it was most likely a wadded up piece of foil.... so they dug and dug into the hard clay. They took turns digging and using the pinpointer, digging a few millimeters each time :-\ My anticipation was growing and I was relieved that they finally gave up at about 7 deep.
They ran off to play and I dug the big final chunk of clay and was amazed to find a TOMMY HILFIGER ring with 10 k :happydance01:
The little baby ring is also 10k. Unfortunately the diamond ring is junk - my heart was beating fast as I cleaned it up (it's so heavy!) I was thinking maybe it was white gold :crying02:
Btw, my kid added the (bear claw ?) into the pic lol I found that about 2 yrs ago next to my prized 1820 LC.
