Back to the same old park, Buffalo, Merc, War Nickel

Well, I had a vacation day today, so I went back to the old park I've been hunting. The results were less than stellar today, and I hunted it for 7 hours straight. I hate to say it, but I think I've hunted it to death. Time to move on to greener pastures until fall.

I tried digging nickel signals again today, and I finally got an older nickel, a 1930 Buffalo. I can't understand why I'm having so much trouble finding old nickels in this park. Glad I finally got one.

I thought this was an old brass pocket knife when I dug it up, but when I got it home and cleaned it up I saw the writing on it. Pretty neat Kresge's item. I wonder how old it is?

My next find was this 1936 Mercury Dime.

Then I dug another nickel signal and found this 1943-P War Nickel. Fairly decent shape, looks like it was pretty new when dropped. It was under the huge old oak tree.

I also found 7 wheat cents today.

Here's a group shot of the Buffalo, Merc, and War Nickel:

I broke my streak of Indian Heads at this park, they were hiding from me today. I still had a very enjoyable time, it was a beautiful day and it was good to get out of the office and into the sun. Life is good!

:omg: A vacation day, what gives with that. I'm sure it was well deserved. Don't give up on that park yet, it is still giving up some goods. 2 silvers, a buff and seven wheats is a good hunt. |:cheering:

Very nice finds Tony. Congrats on the silver. The way you hunt a place, if your not getting nickel signals, its probably cause there aint none there. lol WTG and congrats. HH

The item you found with the Kresge name is I believe what we used to call a feeler guage. It was used to set the gap on spark plugs and the gap in your distributor cap so that the spark would go off at the exact right time. Kresge was a general merchandise store at one time, then became what we call five and dime stores before becoming K-Mart.

:perfect10:! :congrats: on the great finds! I'm kind of feeling the same way about the private park, I've been hunting. The ground is getting pretty quite. I need some new happy hunting grounds too. Good luck! And WTG!! |:cheering: HH!
