Hi all. Was out hunting Kemper Military School before heading to work the other morning and found what I thought was a brass washer from a mechanical control valve. It wasn't until my wife was looking over my junk box, (where I throw all my crap finds), that she said, there's writting on this washer. :shocked04: After cleaning it up, it looked like oriental writting, so I looked on the computer for coins with square holes and found exactly what I dug up. :omg: Got a hold of a collector in Canada, and he said if it's real, could be dated between late 1800's to early 1900's, but if it's an orniment, than it was made after 1912.
(I heard Kemper had students from all over the world enrolled at this school.)
So we're waiting to hear back from the collector, but in the mean time, here is what I found. Good hunting to you all, Eric

Hey, thanks Dan. Wouldn't that be cool  if it dated back that old.
I'm glad I still had this coin for my wife to see. I started my crap box almost from day one, after I read how a detectorist was stopped on a beach by a beach goer and was complaining about digging, until he showed her all the sharp junk he was pulling out of the sand. She then changed her tune. So, I have done the same, and it paid off for me this time. Good hunting to ya, thumbsup01 Eric
Eric , you'll find alot of items that are junk now only because they just aren't identifiable yet and you will see later that some of these are really nice finds and would of been thrown out if you didn't keep them . i've been relic hunting for awhile and i still find something in the junk box that i'm able to recognize now after the years of experience.

:perfect10:! Excellent find! Looks real to me. But what do I know. I'm just a mud digger from Mich. I dug a small button the other day. And was just going to throw it in the junk pile. Until I noticed the words around the side, that said. Fincks Red Bar. Just For the Heck of it. I looked it up on the internet. And found out that it came form a line of, more or less farmer clothing from a company in Detroit. This line dates back to the 1930's to 50's. So into the momentos pile it goes. Never know what you're going to dig up. Nice Going! And I hope it's an original! HH! :waving:

Well, I recieved two different replies from dealers regarding this Chinese Coin, and it's an orginal. |:cheering: |:cheering: It was minted between 1736 - 1795. One guy said it's not worth much because so many of them were minted. Either way, a very old find. Good hunting everyone thumbsup01
