Went knocking on doors yesterday to try and get a spot to detect. We spotted an older woman in her yard and pulled in. There was a date on the house of 1804. Spoke for a bit and her husband came out and gave us permission. They were going to be leaving in just over an hour and said we could detect until they left. Didn't find a whole lot of items, but for just over an hour I pulled up a toasted NJ and a sterling belt buckle. The buckle was made by Louis Stern & Co which was in business from 1871-1950. Pics of the NJ are quite poor as the coin is also. I could positively identify it by the reverse shield and some obverse detail. The best part is they said we were welcome back anytime as long as they were home. The property is just over 5 acres so there should be plenty to hunt. The street is named after the original owner of the house whose last name begins with G like the belt buckle. Could be a family member.
