First Wheat Penny Park Hunt

I've been getting a little frustrated as of late, only digging trash, trash, and iron. Then I decided to get creative and look at some historic maps for old parks in my area and one paid off a little. I dug my first wheat penny ever!

:cheering: :bananadance: :cheering: congrats on your first wheatie :cheering: :bananadance: :cheering:

how deep ??

I'm sure you'll find more very soon jaxtabking

I remember that it took over 200 lincolns before I found my 1st wheat. :congrats: on your 1st and before you know it that silver stuff will be appearing in your holes.

Congrats on your first wheat cent, on what is sure to be the first of many!

There are still a lot of old coins left in those old parks. Keep hitting them!

:congrats:

Let the addiction begin!

Keep doing the research and the old coins will show up. :detecting:

I actually found another wheatie the same day on a late night hunt at a park at the beach. Im getting addicted. Im using a PIRATE PRO but looking to upgrade to something with ground balance for the wet sand and salt water.

if you are wanting to get on the wet sand i would recommend a multi-frequency detector , you'll have less issues and falsing transitioning from the dry to the wet sand .

Congrats on the first wheats! I'll never forget mine.

If you aren't going to actually get into the water you might want to consider a Sovereign GT.

Thanks for the info, I'm trying to learn the sound of certain targets on the PIRATE PRO, but they are difficult to tell between keepers and trash. And in the wet sand it goes nuts. I found a surf master pi but people selling detectors on craigslist are super flakey.

Unless you are going to water detect (in the deeper water rather than salt water sand) then I don't think you want a PI (just my opinion).... or you will be digging every tiny piece of metal in the ground.
