[size=1:crazy:t]Once upon a time, in a land not too far,
Yesterday to be exact, I jumped in my car.
With my usual tools I used my new loppers,
I’d try anything once to get hold of the coppers.
The ground was saturated, fernless, and inviting,
Close to my honey hole’s lips, it was all so exciting.

I dug deep at the first whose signal too low,
No matter, a copper, I luckily stole.
The second hole's signal was up in the nineties,
Too high I did think for anymore bounties.
But alas I did pocket my second that day,
I almost left then but decided to stay.

The third hole's signal was just about right,
The normal five inches dug with all of my might.
This one too was of colonial coinage,
It was rather pleasing in my Shakespearean loinage.

Call it what you want I prefer a New England Triptych,
Most people ‘round here would use Bruin hat-trick.
No relics that day, not usually the case,
Helen Keller would have dug those using only an Ace.

I lived happily ever after until I got home,
To my wife, “all three wiped” I did angrily moan.
The moral of the story I’ll relay with a wink,
CT coppers use metal that really does stink!

Fantastic writing :beerbuddy: Did I say SUPERB writing?

Congrats on the coppers :happydance01: :happydance01: even if they're rough... I've been soaking and tooth-pickin' at 1849 LC for the past month & just tonight finally got a date! At first it was an 1847, then 1844 and finally a definite 1849... lol

Anyway, I'll be waiting for more good finds (and stories) :-> You need to send this into Lost Treasures, E& W, etc...

The poem is great, the coppers are great. I like coppers even when you can't see any images on them. I've got quite a few and love getting them, even wiped out. Congrats on your outing.

Nice finds regardless of condition although it would be nice to have one in the ever growing collection that has a lot of detail.
